FLAMES OF MAHASIDDHA

The film is about the remarkable culture of the Himalayan shamans, the Buchen Lamas. They live in the remote Pin Valley in the Indian Himalayas.

Buchen Lamas are believed to possess supernatural power. Fragments of their spectacular “Breaking the Stone” ceremony, the core of their myth of the Mahasiddha, are interlaced with scenes from their daily life in a village.

The main character of the film is Padme Dorje – Buchen’s assistant. He also works as a postman, delivering letters and pensions to people all around the valley. He is our guide through this mysterious land of beauty where legends seem to be still alive.
